Fellow Attaches,

I am very proud and pleased to have the honour to introduce you the notions of the « Corps of Attachés » and the « Doyen of the Corps of Attachés ».

The Corps of Attachés (CA) includes all Military Diplomats (Defence, Military, Naval, Air and Deputy Attachés) accredited to the Kingdom of Belgium, whether they live in Belgium or abroad.

As Attachés, in relation to the Government and/or the Ministry of Defence of our native country, we are responsible about the military relations between our country and the Belgian Military Authorities of the Kingdom of Belgium.

The Doyen of the Corps of Attachés is appointed by the Belgian Military Authorities and is the most senior accredited Defence Attaché who lives in Belgium.

As Doyen, I act as the Corps of Attachés’ spokesman to the Belgian Military Authorities, I have a role of moral authority and I am the Corps of Attachés’ representative for Protocol.
